Biden Paused – A Missed Opportunity

I’m disappointed that the Biden campaign paused their ads, fundraising emails, and other outreach efforts when the shooting happened in Butler, PA.

I would have hoped that there was a reserve of messages and ads that made no mention of the Republicans, Trump, or the right-wing.

I would have hoped there was a collection of messages that celebrated Biden/Harris and Democratic achievements with no negative messaging against the opposition.

A collection of messages that are visionary, future-facing, aspirational, inspirational, and uplifting. “Morning in America” messages. “Shining City on the Hill” messages. “Beacon of Hope and Freedom” messages.

Now would be the time – Saturday night would have been the time – to shift the campaign to a wholly-positive campaign. To inspire voters. To move them to donate. To call them to “Yes, we can”, “We Dare to Dream”, and “We have before, we will again”. To say “Join us, as your ancestors did, to create a great society for all of us.”

Now would be the time to flood the airwaves and web sites saying “You would join with us, even if there was no Trump, no MAGA, no Republican Party.”

A golden Opportunity missed.
